Thank America For… celebrates laws in America that protect civil liberties, with a focus on gender equity. Many of these laws are targeted for reversal under Project 2025. Each work is titled Thank America For… (Name of Legislation) to acknowledge the protections these laws provide while reminding us that civil rights are neither permanent nor guaranteed. By incorporating these legal documents into my imagery, I recognize the beauty embedded within the legal framework of this nation while emphasizing the need to defend and expand the rights we have secured. Each law is laser-cut into ephemeral, lightweight paper layered with faded imagery, reflecting how quickly rights can change or be taken away.  Extending this exploration of the relationship between law, rights, and everyday life, I have recently begun working with domestic textiles.  By sewing laws and court cases that support egalitarian relationships into the fabric of the home, I connect the legal structures that shape our lives to the intimate spaces where social values are formed, exploring how these protections can foster greater equality within the home and, by extension, throughout society.
