Equal Rights Amendment:

• Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.

• Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

• Section 3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.

According to the ERA Coalition 80% of Americans think the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is part of the constitution, but it is not! The ERA was passed by the U.S. Senate and then the House of Representatives on March 22, 1972. In order for the Amendment to legitimately become part of the US Constitution it must to be ratified by 38 states. After 47 years it has only been ratified by 37 states. Below is a list of which states have ratified the Amendment.
